Dental Bonding

Recent advances in bonding materials over the past five years allow us to offer more lifelike and longer-lasting restorations than ever before with dental bonding. At our Orlando and Winter Park-area practice, dental bonding is performed chairside by Dr. Skomsky to provide our patients with attractive dental restorations involving a minimum of tooth preparation.  Using modern dental bonding techniques and an approach that accounts for all elements of tooth form, Dr. Paul Skomsky can close spaces between teeth; repair chips, cracks, and stains; and give misaligned teeth a straighter appearance. Because producing attractive results with dental bonding requires the dentist to have the artistic capacity to combine color, shape, form, and texture, Dr. Skomsky's skills as a successful illustrator and artist whose work has been distributed worldwide help him create striking smiles using dental bonding.  Dental bonding treatment can usually be completed in one appointment, though additional appointments may be required to achieve the desired results depending on the extent of treatment necessary.

While we can often achieve striking results for our patients using dental bonding, individual considerations may mandate the use of porcelain veneers. In more complex situations, porcelain veneers are used to accomplish the most dramatic dental restorations. Bonding material does not possess the strength and durability of ceramic porcelain veneers, and bonding restorations are also less resistant to staining than veneers.  When you come in for an appointment with Dr. Paul Skomsky, we will listen carefully to your vision of how'd you'd like your smile to look and determine a course of treatment that is tailored to produce the precise end results you've been wanting.

Porcelain Crowns

In the past, dental crowns were often crafted using a metal substructure that was covered with porcelain to match the color of a patient's teeth. Over time, patients with this type of restoration often found that an unsightly metallic line would appear near the gum threshold as gingival recession exposed the metal component of the crown. Fortunately, this possibility is now completely avoidable: today, all-porcelain crowns are the standard for the placement of full dental crowns. Proper design and careful material selection by Dr. Paul Skomsky and his talented ceramists allow us to create beautiful, lifelike results boasting strength and durability equivalent to older porcelain-metal crowns. The end result is beautiful, long lasting, all-porcelain crowns that can be designed to either match existing teeth perfectly or enhance the esthetics of a newly designed smile. At our Orlando office, porcelain dental crowns are often used as a component of a smile makeover designed by Dr. Skomsky.

Dental Bridges

A single missing tooth can mar the beauty of an otherwise attractive smile and also cause difficulties speaking or eating.  Using porcelain dental bridges, Dr. Paul Skomsky can restore proper oral functionality and make the smile appear healthy and appealing once more.  Typically, a dental bridge consists of a replacement tooth that is fastened to dental crowns on both sides to "bridge" a gap in a patient's smile.  When designed by an artistically gifted cosmetic dentist such as Dr. Skomsky, dental bridges can precisely match the shape and color of your natural teeth.  The end result is a beautiful, gap-free smile that appears completely natural.  With proper care, dental bridges can provide long-lasting esthetic benefits and restored oral functionality for years to come.
